Christmas Day

Santa came to our house and brought some bikes. The girls were SO excited. They were also excited to get their stuffed snakes that they had been asking for all Christmas long. We had such a fun day together, first at home just the 4 of us, and then later at Mimi & Papa's house :)

Cory beat me at our first game of checkers but I got in the groove and whooped him for the next 2 games. Can you tell I'm competitive?

Christmas Eve

We always do Christmas Eve with the Whytes and it's such a fun evening for us. We tell stories, eat great food, and just spend fun time together with the family. The kids tear into their presents and it turns into utter chaos. Here are a few photos from our fun evening.

Christmas wishes

We have had a great Christmas season with the girls. They get so excited about mangers and seeing baby Jesus. This scene below was in someone's front yard and we had to stop, get out and take photos. We also bought them their own little people manger set that they love to play with. This particular evening was spent with the family and going to visit Santa at the Reitmeyers house. The girls told Santa that they want snakes for Christmas. Not sure where that came from but that's all they would ask for.

Fashion show

Last weekend was crazy and we had so much going on. We woke up on Saturday morning and headed out the door early to participate in the Nordstrom Children's Fashion Show. We did it last year and the girls were a little more timid, but I guess that's to be expected at the age of 2. This year they did much better as three year olds. They walked down the catwalk and looked really adorable in their pink satin dresses. It was a fun family outing and we had our aunties there as well as Mimi & Papa.

Christmas Party

We hosted the Ryan Team Christmas party at our house this year and it was so nice to have everyone over and enjoy the comforts of our home. Every year we do a white elephant gift exchange and the hot gifts that get stolen over & over are usually the liquor gifts. I stole a gift card to a Mexican restaurant that came with a bucket of small tequila bottles and a tank top that read, "Save Water, Drink Tequila". Everyone was making fun of me for wanting tequila when I'm pregnant but all I could think of was enjoying a margarita on a date night a few months from now after the baby is born. I put the small little tank top over my dress and it looked AWESOME with my preggo belly. What a great look!

Understanding

Our girls understand the pregnancy much more than I thought they would. They say the funniest things about the baby. Both girls pretend or think that they have babies in their tummies. Ryan has said from the beginning that she's having 2 babies and their names are Googa and Maya. Googa is a boy and Maya is a girl. Reese says she's having a boy and his name is Captain Feathersword. Lately if they want something they use the baby as way to try and get it. IE: "The baby in my tummy is hungry and wants to eat a cookie" I've had some of the best conversations with Ryan about the baby. The other day I asked her if she was ready for the baby to arrive and she said, "Not yet, the baby needs to grow some more". This past weekend Cory was gone and the girls slept in the bed with me. Ryan was snuggled right up against my belly when she was sleeping and the baby was moving a lot. She woke up and said, "Hey! The baby is kicking me!!" I thought it was so cute and funny. I can't wait to see their interaction with the baby and how they act as big sisters.

A fun girls night

We had a fun girls night at the house this week. We celebrated with a baby shower for Karen's baby boy that's arriving soon and a gift exchange among all the friends. Karen is 36 weeks pregnant and baby boy Hobbs will be here any day now. She got some really great gifts and we had a ton of fun with the gift exchange. Here are a few photos from our fun evening.

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a great holiday weekend this year. Lots of time spent with my family and Cory's family. Cory's grandparents came out to visit along with his aunt & uncle. The food was delicious and we all had a great time. Reese & Ryan always have so much fun playing with their 4 cousins. It's never a dull moment when there are 6 kids running around.

Belly shot

We took team photos today for the Ryan team Christmas card and I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of Cory and I together.  He's was being a goofball, rubbing my belly, and cracking me up.

A sweet moment

Ryan and I were sitting on the couch this afternoon after she woke up from a catnap and she was rubbing my belly. The baby moves so much and I have been hoping that the girls will be able to feel it move, but it hasn't happened yet. Ryan wanted to touch my belly button (which is popped out like a turkey that's fully cooked) and she was playing with it and kept poking it asking me if it tickles. She said, "Is the baby ready to come out yet?" I said not yet and asked her if she wanted the baby to come soon. She said, "Not yet, it's not ready yet. It needs to stay in longer". I told her she was right and that he/she would be here soon enough.

Boy or girl?

We’re taking guesses.  Does it look like a girl or a boy?  It looks WAY better than when we had a 3-D ultrasound of the girls.  We laugh that they looked like squished fish because they were so crowded.  This baby looks pretty adorable.  Can't wait to meet him/her.

Three year old stats

We visited Dr. Matsumoto yesterday for the girls' three year well check and they are doing awesome! Ryan is 37.5 inches tall, 31.2 lbs, and has a BMI of 15.6. Reese measured 37 inches tall, weighed 30.8 lbs, and a BMI of 15.8. They were able to take Reese's blood pressure (86/52), but Ryan was too squirmy. The doctor had the girls hop on one foot and bend over to touch their toes. She asked if they were speaking in full sentences (yes), riding a tricycle (yes), and potty trained (yes). We didn't have to get any vaccinations this time which was really nice. Dr. M said that it's usually really easy to bring a new baby home to twins because they don't have any memory of being alone so there probably won't be any resentment towards the baby. She also said not to be surprised or get upset if one or both is not interested in the baby. I think they'll be great with the baby and it really wasn't something that crossed my mind, but it was nice to have her reassurance.

Happy Birthday, Reese & Ryan!!!

It is hard to believe that our baby girls are three years old. They are the most amazing children and every day with them is full of joy. We love you girls so much and are grateful every day for the love and laughter you have brought into our lives!

We had a really fun birthday weekend for the girls, including a princess party with dress up attire and a princess bounce house. The girls had so much fun with their cousins and friends!
Fun in the bounce house

Time to eat our princess cake
Enjoying some much needed down time with our new books after the party.

30 weeks

I am backdating this entry because I'm a blog slacker but life has been really hectic lately. I'm about 2 weeks behind on writing. I'm writing this on 11/17 but these photos were taken on 11/11, right after my 30 week appointment. There is a big difference from my 26 week photos a month ago. I'm anxious to see how big baby Whyte will be. I've gained 20 lbs. so far, but that # will surely creep up to 30lbs. by the time it's all over :)

Our first trip visit to the dentist

We had our first visit to the dentist and the girls did SO great!! They sat in the chair and watched an intro video about what to expect and then Ryan went first. Dr. Steiner checked out her teeth, counted all of them (20), and even used the polisher. Reese was next and she was a little more serious but warmed up towards the end . They gave the girls a teddy bear to hold and when it was all over they got new princess toothbrushes and toothpaste. Now when we brush our teeth every morning and night they say, "Dr. Steiner wants us to brush our teeth!"

Watching the video about going to the dentist

Reese looks a little hesitant of the whole situation.

Halloween

Halloween was so much fun this year. It was really the first year that the girls were into it and could actually trick or treat for an extended period of time. Reese dressed up as a bat and Ryan was a witch. We bought a $6 cape for Reese and cut out bat wings and tied rubber bands to the end of the cape so she could lift her bat wings. Ryan wore her witch costume that we had bought from Mystique. It looked so cute with the witch hat, but she really didn't want to keep it on all night. Cory painted both their faces and they loved it!! Romelo & Haley came over dressed as Hannah Montana and the Grim Reaper. It was such a great night!!
